When logging in to your University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Microsoft 365 account you will see the following prompt to enroll in Microsoft MFA:

Click Next and be prompted to provide Additional security verification.
In the drop down menu select Mobile app for using the Microsoft Authenticator app.
After selecting next, the Configure mobile app screen will appear.
From the Add a methoddropdown select Authenticator App.
Click Add.
Install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your smart phone or tablet

On your computer, click Next.
Click Next again. You should see a QR code on the computer screen.
On your smart phone or tablet, open the Authenticator app.
Click Accept then Continue.
Select Scan a QR Code.
Allow access to your camera if prompted.
Use your smart phone or tablet to scan the QR code from the prompt on your web browser.
Once completed, you should see your UW Oshkosh email address, netid@uwosh.edu, listed in
the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart phone or tablet.
In your web browser on the computer click Next. The system will then You will be prompted to run a test . Respond to the notification on your iOS or Android device. to ensure MFA is working.
On your screen you will see a number displayed in the prompt.
On your smart phone or tablet you will receive a push notification.
When you open the push notification, you will see a prompt with a text box and number pad to match the number on screen.
Enter the number from the sign-in prompt on screen, and tap Yes to approve the sign in.
Click Next on the computer screen.
After the test is successful, you will may be prompted to provide additional security verification for a backup method (phone number). IT encourages adding your mobile device phone number to act as a backup if you are unable to access or use the mobile app for any reason. Alternatively, it can be skipped by selecting Done.
