Use My Media to share a link to a video in an assignment in Canvas

Setup your Assignment

  1. Create an assignment as normal. If you want your students to share the URL of the video with you make sure "Website URL" is checked. 

  2. When students submit their assignment they will choose the "Website URL" tab. 

  3. When you use SpeedGrader to grade the assignment it will display a link to video you can click on. The video will open within SpeedGrader allowing you to make comments and grade the assignment.

Student Directions

  1. Upload video to My Media

    1. Log into http://canvas.uwosh.edu

    2. Select the "Account > My Media" link

    3. Choose "Add New > Media upload"

    4. Select "Choose file to upload" button

    5. Find the video on your computer

    6. Give the video a new name (if necessary)

    7. Choose Save (might take some time for processing)

  2. Find the share URL for a video that has already been uploaded to My Media

    1. Select the "Account > My Media" link

    2. Select the video you want to share

    3. Play the video and you should see a set of icons appear at the top right of the video

    4. Select the share icon in the upper right on top of your video

    5. Copy the URL in the first dialog box (has a link icon). Use this URL.
