Migrating an UWO Workspace YouTube Channel to a Personal YouTube Account

This will walk you through on how to move a UWO Personal Account YouTube Channel to a Personal Google YouTube Channel.

This process will take 7 days to complete because Google requres 7 day to change primary ownership of the channel.

Overview

  • You will need to create a UWO YouTube Brand Channel

  • You will need to move the UWO Personal YouTube Channel to a UWO Brand Channel

  • Share the UWO Brand Channel with the Personal Google Account

  • Set Primary Owner of the Channel to be the Personal Google Account

  • Transfer the UWO Brand Channel to a Personal YouTube Channel

Instructions

  1. Create UWO Brand Channel under your UWO account

    1. Log into your Personal UWO YouTube account

    2. Click on Your Channel

    3. Go to Settings

    4. Click on Create a New Channel

    5. Type in the Name of the Brand Channel you want to create

      1. You can name this channel anything you like. It's only a temporary channel used for the transfer process.

    6. Click Create Channel

  2. Move UWO Personal Channel to the UWO Brand Channel

    1. Make sure you are in the Personal UWO YouTube channel and not the Brand Channel

    2. Click Settings

    3. Click View Advanced Settings

    4. Click “move channel to a Brand account”

    5. Under the Brand Channel area, click Replace

    6. Click I understand

    7. Click Delete channel

    8. Check the box

    9. Click move the channel

  3. Give your Personal Google Account access to the UWO Brand Channel

    1. Navigate to Brand Accounts

    2. Click on the Temporary Brand Account

    3. Click Manage Permissions

    4. Click Add User

    5. Type in your Personal Google Account

    6. Select the role as Owner

    7. Click Invite

    8. Click Done

    9. Open Gmail using your Personal Google Account

    10. Accept the invite

Due to a 7-day waiting period for transferring channel ownership, you'll need to wait 7 days before continuing.

  1. Change Primary Owner of the UWO Brand Channel to the Personal Google Account

    1. Open a web browser

    2. Navigate to Brand Accounts

    3. Sign into your UWO account

    4. Click on the Brand Account

    5. Click Manage Permissions

    6. Locate your Personal Google Account and change the persmissions to Primary Owner

    7. Click Transfer

    8. Click Done

    9. Sign out of your UWO account

Before proceeding, please note that this action will replace your current Personal YouTube Channel with the Brand Channel you recently transferred.

If you currently have a Personal YouTube Channel that you dont want overwritten, you'll need to create a new one before continuing.

How to Create a YouTube Channel

  1. Move Brand Channel to your Personal YouTube Channel

    1. Open a new web browser

    2. Navigate to YouTube All Channels

    3. Sign in with your Personal Google Account

    4. Click on the Brand Channel you recently transferred ownership of

    5. In the upper right, click on your user account logo and select Settings

    6. Under “Your YouTube Channel” section, click on “View advanced settings”

    7. Click on “Move channel to your Google Account or to a different brand account”

    8. You will now be prompted to sign into your Personal Google Account again

    9. Under the “Choose an account to move this channel to”, select Replace

    10. Check the “I understand” box

    11. Click Delete Channel

    12. Click Move Channel

You should now see that your UWO Personal YouTube Channel has been successfully transitioned to a standard Personal YouTube Channel.
