Install Software on a Non-University Windows or Mac Device
Windows
There are many ways to install software on Windows. Of these, two are the most common.
Install From the Microsoft Store
The first is to download the software from the Microsoft store.
Select Start, or Search.
Find and open the Microsoft Store.
Click on the search bar at the top of the window that just opened and type in the name of the software you are looking for.
Once you find the app, select Get or Install and it will install the software on your device.
Install From the Developer’s Website
You should only download and install programs from trusted publishers and retail websites.
Go to the website hosting the software and download the Windows installer. To install software, the first thing you will need is a file that ends in .exe or .msi. The software will not be installed until you finish steps 2 to 4.
Go to the location where the file was downloaded. The file can be found by opening File Explorer.
Usually, the file can be found in the Downloads folder. Otherwise, the file is where you downloaded the file.
Double click on the .exe or .msi file to run the installer and follow the prompts to install the software.
Mac
