JAMF Self Service for iOS devices

With the introduction of The JAMF onto UWO Apple devices, users will now able to install programs onto iOS devices in a manner similar to installing software onto macOS devices using MSC (Managed Software Center). On iOS, users will use Self Service. Most importantly, this will empower end users to install apps licensed to the University onto Campus owned iOS devices without the need of having or creating an Apple ID.

In addition to Self Service, we are now capable of deploying apps directly to Campus owned iOS devices using The JAMF without the need for any interaction from the user at all. This combination of Deployment and end user app installs brings much needed management to iOS devices used by both Faculty and Students.

Managed Apps

In order to apply a standard to iOS devices, Outlook, Google Chrome and Google Drive will be auto deployed to all Campus owned iOS devices. This will ensure a consistent setup on all devices and will not require the user to download anything from the App Store.

Self Service

Self Service is an app that contains a catalog of apps approved by UWO for the deployment and use of faculty and students on iOS devices. Apps downloaded through Self Service do not require an Apple ID to install or use. Self Service will be automatically deployed once the iOS device is enrolled into The JAMF. Once installed you will need to look for the Self Service icon.

See example Below:

Once you launch Self Service you will be presented with an app catalog of approved UWO apps that can be installed onto your iOS device without the need for an Apple ID.

Similar to MSC, there will be categories for all apps available in Self Service to Make searching for apps easier
