Using the DataStore

The DataStore is a set of tables where information is gathered and formatted before it is written to extract files so it can be loaded into other systems.  It will supposedly require less effort to develop extracts to met the requirements of different systems using the DataStore than it would to obtain the information directly from the source tables.

Some systems do not require all of the criteria.  Please, check the Destination System Differences to see what your system requires before entering any criteria.

Entering the Criteria

  1. Navigate to Main Menu > UWO DataStore > DataStore Criteria

  2. In the DataStore Criteria page for BOOKLOG, add the appropriate number of rows to the grid of Terms based on the number of Session codes for that term, make sure to:

    1. Use the correct sequence numbers (no repeats and they are in order).

    2. Use all of the appropriate Sessions for the term. For Spring 2024, the sessions are 14W, 7W – 1st, and 7W – 2nd.  This also meant that 3 rows were added to the grid.

    3. Assign the appropriate Session Group.  For Spring 2024, that is SP.  Make sure to type in ALL CAPS.

  3. Click the Save button.

  4. Then run the following processes in this order, making sure that the previous job finishes before starting the next one:

    1. Go to UWO DataStore > Booklog Extracts – Steps > Select Booklog Classes

      1. Choose or create a new Run Control

      2. Set the DataStore Selection Criteria to be:  BOOKLOG

      3. Put a checkmark in the “Exclude CAAP Attribute Courses?” checkbox.

      4. Put a checkmark in the “Exclude NURS-ACC Subject?” checkbox.

      5. Click the Run button

      6. In the new page, select the Z_CCA060AA application engine and then click the OK button to run it.  DO NOT run the Z_CCA060NT app engine because this will reset the DataStore Criteria page and erase the new rows you had added before.

    2. When that job is done (you can view the status in Process Monitor), go to UWO DataStore > Booklog Extracts – Steps > Gather Class Data

      1. Search for the run control you had used in the previous job.  It should already have BOOKLOG selected as the DataStore Selection Criteria and the 2 checkboxes should be greyed out now.

      2. Click the Run button and select the Z_CCA060H process

      3. Click OK to run the application engine.

    3. When that is done, go to UWO DataStore > Booklog Extracts – Steps > Extract Booklog Classes

      1. Search for the run control you had used in the previous jobs.

      2. Click the Run button and select the Z_CCA060AB application engine

      3. Click the OK button.

      4. This will generate the file and SFTP it to Exchange Data. The FTP Application for Booklog SRI is "zccj60aa_01".  This transfers the extract files to “S:\Exchange_Data\BookStore\” directory.
