Switching to "New" Teams (Mac)

In order to switch to the "New" Teams on your University-purchased Macintosh, please follow the steps below.

1. Download "New" Teams from MSC
Microsoft Teams (Work or School) (aka "New" Teams) is available now in MSC. It should be on the page that loads when you first launch MSC. Click "Install" and let MSC install the application.

2. Launch "Classic" Teams and turn on the "Try the new Teams" toggle
In the upper left of your Classic Teams window, you should find a toggle to try the New Teams. After you have installed New Teams from MSC, switch the toggle on. Classic Teams will quit, New Teams will launch, and you'll be able to select an account with which to log in to New Teams.

3. Switching back to Classic Teams (Optional)
If you decide to switch back to Classic Teams, you can do so by turning off the "New Teams" toggle in your account manager area in New Teams.

For your awareness:
While switching the toggle in Classic Teams isn't imperative to successfully using New Teams, the toggle does change the system default that is used when Teams links are clicked in emails or calendar invites. If you skip turning on the toggle, all links you click for Teams meetings will start in Classic Teams.

The icons for Teams are very, very similar, with a green "NEW" badge on the New Teams. See below.

Classic Teams is a managed application via MSC and cannot be removed by the user. When Microsoft completely declares New Teams the standard/default Teams (estimated to be sometime in Q1 2024) Classic Teams will be automatically removed from UW Oshkosh-managed Macintoshes.
